Zoe on a mission

MIDRAND – Miss SA Schools Ambassador hopes to inspire all finalists to get involved in their communities by developing their own project.

Zoe Maota, crowned as Miss Halfway House Primary Ambassador needs assistance to become the next Miss South Africa Schools Ambassador on 25 and 26 May.

The Miss SA Schools Ambassador competition aims to empower young South African schoolgirls with the necessary knowledge and skills to become a successful ambassador for the competition and their respective educational institutions.

Zoe, in Grade 4, was crowned ambassador for Halfway House Primary School last year and needs R2 000 sponsorship to proceed in the competition.

The competition hopes to inspire all finalists to get involved in their communities by developing their own project at their schools including charity work, and food tables and birthday parties for underprivileged kids.

“There are projects that she needs to engage in and one of them is to show entrepreneurial skills,” said her mother Yvonne.

“I would like to plead with the community to rally behind her during the competition.”

One of the community projects young Zoe is currently involved in is the New Jerusalem Children’s Home, where she plays the violin for the children, reads storybooks and interacts with them. She also will be starting her very own project on autism awareness in the near future.

“She has humbled me,” added Yvonne.

“Engaging in the number of projects has taught her, discipline, responsibility and time management. Despite doing all the community projects, she still came out top in her class. I’m really proud of her.”

Each finalist will have the opportunity to do a radio interview with LekkerFM and be afforded free entrance into Gold Reef City Theme Park. In addition, each girl will receive a finalist sash and the school principal will also be invited to the Miss SA Schools 2018 Gala Event.

“I would like to encourage parents to invest their time in their children’s lives,” said Yvonne.

“We must show interest even in the little things because it is in the little things where greatness is achieved.”
