Code Inc develops City app

MIDRAND – The app is a platform found on the web and android mobile.

A group of young students who founded Code Inc SA company in Midrand have developed a smart-city solution app called My City and invite relevant stakeholders to jump on board.

Co-founder of the software development company, Mpho Mashego, said the app is a platform found on the web and Android mobile which includes features that will allow for an in-city job directory, advertising for entrepreneurs, start-ups and mall business.

“It also has the city forum, an online chat platform where the community can have constructive conversations on the problems they are facing within the city. We also have a watch list feature that we aim to get help from the police, to help speed up response time within the city and also allow the people to help each other in times of need.”

Mashego said they started developing the app two years ago when they launched their company. “We are inviting all society role players from incubators, business mentors and government departments to join the app and make use of it.”

He said the idea of the app was inspired by other social media networks which raised the need for a local platform that could assist locals to interact, get informed and empowered. “Although this project is in its initial stages, it aims to modernise the way in-city duties are facilitated; improving quality and response time in all facets, while helping the community grow with features specifically catered for businesses and entrepreneurs and the general citizen.”
