Midrand Primary School principal shines at awards

MIDRAND – Kgaabi also received position one at the provincial teaching awards.

The principal of Midrand Primary School, Kwena Kgaabi, said he was honoured to have scooped the second position at the National Teaching Awards at the Sandton Convention Centre.

Kgaabi received the second place at the national level in the category of Excellence in Primary School Leadership. He had come out in the first position at the provincial level of the awards.

“I was not expecting it. I am honoured for all the efforts put together by staff to be recognised at a national level as one of the best,” he said.

Kgaabi was not the only one from Midrand Primary School to shine at the awards. Three teachers also scooped second place in three different categories. Steffan Govender for Excellence in Primary School Teaching, Morongwa Lesufi for Excellence in Primary Natural Science Teaching and Christel Meyer for the category, Excellence in Special Needs Teaching.

He said the awards were not just an achievement for the school but a reminder that they should work harder. “This puts pressure on us to raise the bar and be committed to serving the community of Midrand,” he added.

Kgaabi, who has been a principal at the school since 2015, said he would like to thank all staff members for their commitment to teaching. “These are results of teamwork. It shows that when we work together towards a common goal of providing quality education, we can achieve more.”
