#ICYMI: Midrand’s Sector 3 gives insight into its fight against crime

MIDRAND – Sector 3 chairperson has spoken out on the issues affecting the sector.

Midrand is made up of five sectors which are led by their various chairpersons.

The Midrand Reporter spoke to Sector 3 chairperson, Mokete Makubakube for more insight on the issues in the sector.

“Sector 3 has a crime of varying patterns dominated by residential burglary, theft of motor vehicles and common robbery among others,” said Makubakube, who added that research conducted has shown that most of the crime allegedly occurs during the day when most of the residents are at work, leaving their homes unoccupied.

The sector forum conducts regular patrols throughout the area along with the new crime prevention initiatives, which have kicked off in conjunction with the South African Police Services to inform the residents on tips for the public, businesses and residential areas.

The chairman is encouraging the community to always remain vigilant, report the crime regardless of its nature, share suspicious activities and join the community in becoming volunteer patrollers.
