Midrand Police Station to win the fight against crime

MIDRAND – Midrand community can know more about what the change to Brigadier station mean to them.

Midrand Police Station has been upgraded from a colonel station to a brigadier station.

Spokesperson for the station, Warrant Officer Mmakgomo Semono said, “The station was upgraded with the arrival of the new station commander, Brigadier David Tsotsotso.

“The Midrand community has become more populated due to the rapid development which has taken place in the area, therefore more manpower [and vehicles] is needed to properly curb crime in the five sectors,” said Tsotsotso.

The station recently received 52 constables as part of the upgrade as well as seven vehicles.

“My duty is to maintain operational functions and ensure effective and efficient policing services to the Midrand community. I believe the fight against crime should begin with the individual.

“I would like to increase everyone’s level of responsibility while recognising the benefits of diversity, with the assistance of the [Midrand] Community Policing Forum.”

Midrand police officers will be more visible with an increase in patrols, quick response time, improved services and increased joint operations targeting identified hotspots in the area.

Semono said, “Regardless of the number of vehicles the station has received, there is still a need for more in order to be able to attend to the community on time, but the community can rest assured that the station is doing its best to ensure the safety of residents.”

Details: Midrand Police Station 011 347 1600/26.
