Princess Project Midrand needs your help

MIDRAND – Princess Project is appealing to the community to donate all items that young girls use for matric dances.

It is that time of the year again where young girls are already planning for their matric dance while others will not be afforded the same opportunity due to financial strains.

The Princess Project Midrand, started by Ruby John, is a registered non-profit organisation which kicked off last year and is aimed at providing young disadvantaged girls with dresses, shoes and make up for their matric dance.

John appealed to the community to assist the project with storage space which is a huge issue as more dresses are being donated with limited storage space to store them.

When the project was established, only 20 girls were able to receive assistance, however, John is now aiming for an even higher number of beneficiaries and is therefore encouraging the community to donate more dresses, shoes, accessories, handbags and is also calling on the business sector to assist with sponsorship.

“The Princess Project Midrand has the full support of Midrand Police Station Commander Brigadier David Tsotsotso and Sergeant Matome Tlamela who will assist with the project. The drop-off point for all items will be Midrand Police Station,” said John.

“The collected items are loaned off to the youth for the night at no cost, then later returned to assist other less privileged girls the following year.”
