Rabie Ridge festive season arrests

MIDRAND – Rabie Ridge police have released their festive season arrest stats.

Rabie Ridge police crime prevention and sector teams have scored some great successes during December last year and in the first week of January this year.

Officers were executing weekly crime prevention operations which included stop and search actions, roadblocks, hotspot patrolling and search operations for wanted criminals.

Their efforts yielded the following arrests: 

  • 32 for public drinking
  • 2 for the possession of unlicensed firearms
  • 17 for possession of live ammunition
  • 4 for illegal gambling
  • 4 for murder
  • 50 for drunk driving
  • 30 for assault
  • 27 for possession of dagga
  • 5 for unlicensed liquor sales
  • 2 for robbery
  • 1 for attempted murder
  • 2 for theft
  • 1 for fraud suspect
  • 3 for housebreaking
  • 3 for rape suspects
  • 9 for domestic violence
  • 1 for contempt of court
  • 1 for kidnapping
  • 9 for malicious damage
  • 1 for dealing in drugs
  • 1 for hijacking
  • 3 for possession of the suspected stolen property
  • 5 for reckless and negligent driving.

“All the suspects were arrested as part of the festive season operations which included crime prevention and tracing operations,” said Rabie Ridge police spokesperson Captain Matsobane Masela.
