Noordwyk Secondary School releases its third group of matrics

MIDRAND – Fairly new Noordwyk Secondary School obtained a 90 per cent pass rate.

Noordwyk Secondary School in Midrand has obtained a 90 per cent pass rate for their matric class of 2017.

School principal Alex Tau said the current results are a two per cent drop from the 2016 pass rate of 92 per cent.

About 49 pupils qualified for a degree, while 31 obtained a diploma, 20 received a higher certificate and 12 of the 115 pupils failed.

Three pupils are yet to receive their final results due to administrative/registration irregularities, therefore, their results are still pending.

Tau said he is pleased with the outcome but intends on achieving a higher pass rate for this year’s class.

The school top achievers were:

  • Kamogelo Mothibe obtained six distinctions
  • Dineo Sebola achieved five distinctions
  • Dineo Kgang with five distinctions
  • Nhlavutelo Mnisi received five distinctions
  • Megan Mtupa obtained three distinctions.

One parent was in tears and overwhelmed with joy and gratitude when she saw her son’s results and went on to thank the principal for his hard work and dedication to education, which saw her son pass his matric.
