A safe place for abuse victims in Midrand

MIDRAND – Rabie Ridge police has revived its Victim Empowerment Centre and improved relations with various stakeholders to assist abuse victims.

Rabie Ridge Police Station has revived its Victim Empowerment Centre, a trauma centre for victims of crime and abuse.

“Most of the victims received experienced trauma through rape, gender-based violence, substance abuse, assaults, harassment and bulling,” said the spokesperson for the station, Captain Matsobane Masela.
The improvement of the centre was sparked by the recent appointment of the new empowerment coordinator, Constable Leso Mawela.

“We would like to warn parents to be careful with their children during the festive season because there are a lot of missing person cases being reported and we also appeal to young girls not to be victims of false promises that eventually threaten their lives.”
Details: Constable Leso Mawela 083 522 3983.
