Two cuffed for murder in two separate incidents

IVORY PARK – 'We are on the record appealing to the residents of Ivory Park and its precincts to enjoy themselves responsibly in order to avoid unnecessary violence and deaths.'

A man and a woman were arrested by the Ivory Park police recently on charges of murder in two separate cases.

A 33-year-old woman was arrested in the Goniwe section of Ivory Park for the alleged murder of her boyfriend.

According to the police, the woman is believed to have had an argument with her lover before allegedly stabbing him to death. The man, aged 45, died on the scene.

Meanwhile, a 26-year-old man was arrested for stabbing a 20-year-old man who resided on the same street as him in Kaalfontein. It is alleged that an altercation between the two men started at a party that they had attended on the previous night. The victim was rushed to hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.

Ivory Park Police Station Commander, Brigadier Ngcobo, said he was deeply saddened by the murders, especially considering they were preceded by a night of heavy drinking – something he passionately warned against in his Christmas message.

“We are on the record appealing to the residents of Ivory Park and its precincts to enjoy themselves responsibly in order to avoid unnecessary violence and deaths,” said Ngcobo.

He also appealed to tavern owners to adhere to opening and closing times, and further warned that the Ivory Park police would deal harshly with anyone who did not adhere to the stipulations.

Both suspects were expected to appear in the Tembisa Magistrate’s Court soon.
