#ICYMI: Police come together with the church to fight violence

MIDRAND – Rabie Ridge police along with other stations visit EME church for their 16 Days of activism event.

Ekurhuleni North Cluster members and chaplains visited EME church on 10 December in Mashemong section, Tembisa, as part of the 16 Days of Activism for No Violence Against Women and Children.

“The event was also promoting men as leaders of their society and encouraged to not turn a blind eye but take a stand against the abuse of women and children in their communities,” said Rabie Ridge spokesperson Captain Matsobane Masela.

“All the men present committed themselves to reclaim their positions in their families by making it their responsibility to safeguard and protect their wives and children.”

Masela believes that more and more talks with men will help reduce violence against women and children and create a safe environment which will result in less domestic violence cases.

“Protecting the community is the mandate of the police but it becomes easier to do so when we work together with members of the community because they are the eyes and ears on the ground.”

Rabie Ridge, Tembisa and Norkem Park police stations all form part of the cluster.

Details: Rabie Ridge Police Station 011 310 0400.
