This year has been the hardest for Ivory Park Police Station with the area named the most unsafe area in Gauteng, with highest murder rate.
Station commander for Ivory Park Police Station, Brigadier David Ngcobo assured residents that his team will be out in full force to ensure safety in the community,
“We, unfortunately, have the dubious honour of being the area with most murders in the province, a sizeable portion of which emanates from alcohol abuse. It is on this basis that we call upon those with licenced taverns to adhere to the terms and conditions attached to their licensing, or else the full might of the law will be felt by them and their unlicensed counterparts,” he warned.
Ngcobo further wished the community of Ivory Park and its precincts a peaceful and joyous festive season. He also called on those who are taking long journeys out of the area to be safe and practice caution.
“We want to remind travellers to make sure that their properties are safe. For those who are staying behind to enjoy responsibly and to work closely with the law enforcement officers in their area. Remember that safety is our collective responsibility.”
He concluded by appealing to everyone to be the eyes and ears of the police and to contact them as soon as they witness any criminal activity on 086 001 011 or 112 from their cellphones.
