New executive appeals for support

MIDRAND – Newly elected executive of the Midrand Local Football Association is all about development.

Newly elected executive of the Midrand Local Football Association has appealed to the business sector for sponsorship.

The six members were elected on 25 November at Ivory Park Stadium. Bob Maredi who has been the chairperson of the association since its inception in 2006 revealed that there is lack of support from the corporate sector in Midrand. “We strongly appeal to business people to support football in Midrand by means of sponsorship so it could reach its highest potential.”

Maredi said the association has shown steady growth over the years and currently has more than 30 teams under its wing. “Despite the increase in the number of teams that have joined us, we now have players that have grown from development leagues to top leagues like the Premier Soccer League.”

Following the elections, Maredi retained his position as the chairperson; Makang Mathobela also retained his position as the first chairperson; Dorah Nonyane was elected as second deputy chairperson; Bennet Mmotla retained his position as treasurer; Makarina Mokoena also retained her position as general secretary while Ngoako Mutuku was elected as deputy secretary.

“What is important as we move forward as members of the executive is that we forget about positions and work together to develop soccer in Midrand,” Maredi said in conclusion.
