Rabie Ridge police are pleased with the high number of arrests from 6 to 12 November.
“The police are out to make a statement that no criminal activities will be tolerated during the festive season which usually sees a peak in crime,” said Rabie Ridge police spokesperson Captain Matsobane Masela
People were arrested for the following crimes:
- 60 for public drinking
- 38 for Road Traffic Act offences
- 35 for assaults
- 45 for illegal possession of drugs
- 3 for robbery
- 5 for murder
- 2 for malicious damage to property
- 3 for housebreaking and theft
- 3 for rape
- 5 for theft
- 5 for domestic violence
- 3 for possession of suspected stolen motor vehicle
- 6 for possession of unlicensed firearms
- 3 for dealing in drugs
- 70 for drink and driving
- 1 for intimidation.
“We hope that this high number of arrests in a short period of time will show criminals that crime will not be tolerated in the area, and will also show the community that the police are doing their best to ensure the safety of residents.
