No wrongful act goes unpunished

MIDRAND – Robber sentenced to five years' imprisonment by Alexandra Magistrates' Court.

Rallate Jones Tsotetsi (30) was sentenced to 10 years’ imprisonment on 24 October by the Alexandra Magistrates’ Court for robbery, but five years of his sentence has been suspended, therefore, he will serve only five years direct imprisonment.

The victim (20) did not immediately report the robbery to the police due to the trauma she had experienced. “A case of robbery was opened a couple of days after the incident after the suspect recognised her attacker at the same spot while driving past with her mother,” said Midrand Police Station spokesperson, Warrant Officer Mmakgomo Semono.

“The suspect was apprehended by Ria Sebetsa Security, which was assisting the police after the victim had identified him. The suspect attempted to make a getaway but was not successful.

“Ria Sebetsa then handed him over to Constable Wise Manyike. Detective Sergeant Ngoako Mateta investigated the case in question, and should be commended for his excellent work.”
