Please help the doggos

MIDRAND – Paws R Us are moving to a new shelter in Midrand and needs help from the community.

Paws R Us Rescue and Re-Homing is a Gauteng based non-profit company and they require the assistance of the public as they move to their new home in Midrand.

Linda Grimmer, director at Paws R Us, said they specifically focus on the plight of unwanted, abandoned and stray dogs in the Gauteng region and currently have almost 200 rescued dogs in their care.

“As with all animal welfare organisations in this country, there are no guaranteed income sources from the government or the corporate sector. Therefore, we rely solely on public funding,” Grimmer said.

“We are in the process of moving our dogs from kennels we rented in Tarlton to The Haven, our new premises in Midrand.

“We have moved 49 smaller breeds over October; on 4 November we moved 30 medium and large breeds and a further 14 dogs on 5 November.”

Grimmer said that the plan is to move 21 dogs on 18 November and the final 11 the following week.

“At this stage, I have enough transporters. What I really need are people to help at the Haven to clean, weed, mow lawns, lay grass, remove rubble and rubbish, help repair dog houses, staff quarters and our office.”

Grimmer said they are in desperate need of various items:
