MIDRAND – Give a dog more than a bone this festive season.
With the festive season fast approaching, it’s that time of the year where the Midrand SPCA takes in many stray, unwanted, abused and abandoned animals that require housing and food.
Vice-chairperson of the Midrand SPCA, Brenda Lucas said, “While the festive season is a time for people to go on holiday and spend time with their families, the SPCA staff work around the clock to take care of many animals.”
She added that it was an ‘immense task’ and said they relied on donations to feed and house the animals.Lucas explained that a fundraising initiative called the Dinner Fund had been started in a bid to raise funds to look after the many animals that SPCAs take in over the festive season. Midrand SPCA is participating in this fund-raising initiative.
“People who wish to contribute to the fund can have a short message on behalf of a pet printed in the Midrand Reporter,” said Lucas.
These donations can be paid directly into the SPCA’s bank account. Lucas urged community members to put the reference as ‘Dinner Fund’ so the SPCA knows where to allocate the funds; email the amount and your message to info@midrandspca.co.za
