Brigadier David Tsotsotso, the station commander of the Midrand police, is pleased with the weekend arrests from 24 to 27 October.
Midrand police spokesperson Warrant Officer Mmakgomo Semono said 29 people were arrested for various offences.
The arrests were as follows:
- 1 for malicious damage to property
- 1 for attempted theft of a bank card
- 1 for drunk and driving
- 4 for possession of dagga
- 3 for shoplifting
- 4 for prostitution
- 2 for possession of dangerous weapon
- 1 for reckless and negligent driving
- 3 for theft
- 6 for business robbery
- 2 for attempted theft of motor vehicle
- 1 for trespassing and resisting arrest.
“The police would like to encourage community members not to [take part] in illegal activities that are against the law and avoid being arrested,” said Semono.
