10 years for Midrand robber

ALEXANDRA – Midrand sisters' robber to serve 5 of his 10 year sentence.

 

A 31-year old man was sentenced to 10 years’ imprisonment by the Alex Magistrates’ Court after he was found guilty on a charge of aggravated robbery in Midrand.

Rallate Tsotetsi (31) was arrested on 22 October after he had confronted two sisters and sentenced on 24 October by Magistrate Renier Boshoff for the incident which occurred on 17 July in Allendale Road. He confronted the sisters at knifepoint. One of them ran away and he took from the victim a handbag containing R1500 in cash, an iPhone and bank cards, all worth about R6500.

Some time after the incident, the victim who was driving with her mother, spotted him walking in the street and they made a U-turn towards him. They met and asked a security guard for help and he apprehended and handed the accused over to the Midrand police. He admitted to the offence but none of the items was recovered.
