Murder suspect hands himself over to Ivory Park police

MIDRAND – Man suspected of murder and attempted murder has turned himself in to the police and will appear in court soon.

A man (45) is expected to appear in Tembisa Magistrates’ Court soon for the alleged murder of another man and attempted murder of his girlfriend.

Ivory Park police officers arrived at the deadly scene in the early hours of 21 October after they received a complaint that someone had been shot.

“Upon their arrival at the scene in Ebony Park, Midrand, the police quickly organised an ambulance to come attend to the two victims who were in a vehicle.

“One of the victims didn’t show any sign of life and was certified dead on the scene and the lady was taken to hospital. The deceased is 39 years old and the woman is 21 years old,” said Ivory Park Police Station spokesperson, Captain Bernard Matimulane.

“The suspect, who introduced himself as the woman’s boyfriend and alleged that they lived together in Ebony Park, handed himself over to the police, claiming that he was the one who shot the two in a fit of rage.”

The man was arrested and charged for murder and attempted murder. The firearm, with its rounds of ammunition, has been handed over to the police by the suspect for further investigation.
