Two injured as two trucks collide on the N1 resulting in lane closures and delays

MIDRAND – Johannesburg Metro police were at the scene and initiated their investigation into the incident.

At approximately 3.27pm on this afternoon, 23 October, Netcare 911 responded to reports of a very serious collision involving two trucks on the N1 direction Johannesburg just before the Allandale off-ramp in Midrand.

Nick Dollman, media liaison for Netcare Limited said reports from the scene allege that the truck crashed into the Roads Agency truck and pushed it off the road and into a large road sign.

“Advanced Life Support paramedics attended to the two male drivers, both of whom had sustained moderate injuries. Both were stabilised at the scene before being transported by ambulances from Netcare 911 and another ambulance service to hospital for further assessment and care,” said Dollman.

“Two lanes of the highway were obstructed by one of the trucks and southbound traffic was impacted resulting in long delays. North bound traffic also backed up past the Buccleuch Interchange due to spectator value.”

Johannesburg Metro police were at the scene and initiated their investigation into the incident.
