Rabie Ridge service delivery protest

MIDRAND – Community of Rabie Ridge angry over the lack of service delivery in the area.

 

Police managed to contain a service delivery protest in Rabie Ridge on 26 September.

The youth of Rabie Ridge took to the streets to demand the development of houses on identified land in Rabie Ridge and Austinview.

Burnt tyres remain in the street after a protest in Rabie Ridge.

Rabie Ridge police spokesperson Captain Matsobane Masela said the building of new houses was in the pipeline as part of the Reconstruction and Development Programme. He could not comment when this development would start because it was the responsibility of the Department of Housing and the City of Johannesburg.

He added that the police, Metro police and Vispol did an excellent job in containing the protest.
