Deppe steps down

MIDRAND – Annette Deppe has stepped down as the Midrand Constituency chairperson.

Ward 132 councillor Annette Deppe stepped down as the Midrand Constituency chairperson on 9 September.

“I had served as the chairperson for two and a half years and leave this position as the top performing constituency in the Joburg region with the highest members,” Deppe said.

She said it is always good to leave certain positions as it allows someone else to grow and fill in that vacancy and come up with new and innovative ideas to achieve objectives.

“I decided to leave because I have many other responsibilities such as being the Ward 132 councillor, provincial leader for the Gauteng Democratic Alliance Councillors, provincial executive member of the South African Local Government Association and the whip for the Democratic Alliance in the portfolio of development planning in the City of Johannesburg.”

Deppe nominated Ward 112 councillor Madeleine Hicklin to fill in the position after her departure. Deppe said she feels that Hickin would be able to put even more focus on her current responsibilities.

Furthermore, the political party also honoured Deppe, councillor John Mendelsohn and councillor Michael Sun for their 10 years of service in the Midrand Constituency.
