Gogos of Ivory Park celebrated

MIDRAND – The Life 4 U Foundation and sponsors distributed food parcels to 30 elderly widows.

The Life 4 U foundation hosted a care programme to cherish the widows and grannies of Ivory Park and Tembisa on 15 August.

The purpose of the event was to donate food parcels to 30 widows who are the beneficiaries of the foundation’s poverty relief programme, said Simon Molekwa, the founder of the foundation.

“Life 4 U Foundation, together with our partners and sponsors, aim to take care of the widows and orphans on a quarterly basis. Our [aim] is to make sure that in the months of March, July, September and December we host events to provide food and clothing to the needy widows and orphans around Ivory Park and Tembisa in accordance with James 1 verse 27: Pure and undefiled religion before our God and Father is this: to care for orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world,” said Molekwa.

The food parcels included 12.5 kg maize meal, 10kg rice, 2l fish oil, 2kg sugar, 1kg salt, beans, beef stock, tea bags and juice concentrate.

Molekwa said he hopes their next event will have enough sponsors to accommodate more people and help alleviate poverty in the community.

“Our aspirations come from the love of God and sacrifices made by our struggle heroes such as our late former statesman Nelson Mandela and other heroes who dedicated their entire lives to improve other people’s lives. We sincerely believe that our dream of poverty free communities will be accomplished through self-sacrifice and the support of those who believe in our dream,” said Molekwa.

Molekwa has asked for more community members and businesses to support the foundation and assist with donations including funds, food, computers, printers and stationery.
