UPDATE: Midrand SPCA closed due to armed robbery, Ria Sebetsa steps in

MIDRAND – The local SPCA was closed on 21 August due to an armed robbery that took place on the evening of 20 August.

Ria Sebetsa Security Services extended a helping hand to the Midrand SPCA by offering to have a guard on site for the next month free of charge. The security company has also offered armed response services as well as panic buttons free of charge for life.

The Midrand SPCA has notified the community that their offices will be closed today due to an armed robbery that took place on the evening of 20 August. It is alleged that several suspects entered the premises at around

It is alleged that several suspects entered the premises at around 7pm claiming they had an animal in need of treatment.

One staff member was on duty and was held at gunpoint. The suspects allegedly broke into the office safes, stole money and computers, as well as dog collars and tags.

The staff member was found tied up outside the building. He is currently being treated in hospital as the suspects drove over his foot with their vehicle.

The animals are safe and unharmed.

Their lines are currently down as the cables were ripped out during the incident. For emergencies, management is urging community members to use the emergency line by dialling 083 441 564/5.
