Shop owner shot and airlifted to hospital after 9 suspects target Kyalami Corner

KYALAMI - Nine suspects target the Kyalami Corner centre.

Police have confirmed the owner of the Coin Shop at Kyalami Corner has been shot following a robbery on 30 July at 11.30am. Security footage shows nine suspects robbing both the Cell C store and Coin Shop simultaneously.

Witnesses said gunshots were fired and, at that this point, the suspects dispersed. They fled from both shops with very little loot. The victim is at Milpark Hospital in a critical condition.

Netcare 911 responded to the scene and found that the male victim, believed to be in his 40s, had been shot in the face. He was attended to by Netcare 911 Advanced Life Support paramedics, placed on a ventilator and stabilised at the scene. Due to his significant injuries, the Netcare 911 helicopter ambulance was called to the scene and landed in the parking area of the shopping centre.

The victim was then airlifted to an awaiting Trauma Unit for the urgent and specialised care that he required.

Police have agreed to meet with the centre management and put together plans for better security.
