Bike theft is a new trend in Ivory Park

MIDRAND – Ivory Park police arrested two men for the possession of a stolen motorcycle.

Ivory Park police arrested two men from Ivory Park Ext 2 after they were found in possession of a stolen motorcycle on 24 July. The pair’s arrest now brings the number of people who have been arrested for stolen motorcycles recently, to three.

“Ivory Park station management is pleased by the ever-increasing role played by the community in bringing the suspects of these crimes to justice. The two suspects were arrested after someone tipped off the community patrollers who, without hesitation, informed the sector manager who then did the necessary job,” said Ivory Park Police Station spokesperson Captain Bernard Matimulane.

“The police are on the hunt for two more suspects alleged to be the masterminds behind stolen motorcycles and who are alleged to be responsible for buying and transporting the stolen motorcycles across the border. The recovered motorcycle was apparently destined for Zimbabwe,” said Matimulane.

The suspects, who are both 32 years old, are expected to appear in the Tembisa Magistrates’ Court soon. The motorcycles were stolen in Diepsloot.
