Thief ‘busted’ by his friends for crime in President Park

ALEXANDRA – The suspect admitted committing the crime to the police which occurred on 7 July at the victims' home in President Park, Midrand.

A suspect will appear in the Alex Magistrates’ Court on 24 July for alleged housebreaking, and possession of stolen guns and other items belonging to a couple, one of who is a police officer.

The victims left their home secured in the early morning before going to work. On their return, they noticed that a bag which had contained clothes in it was missing but the clothes had been dumped. On inspection, they realised that their safe which had the guns, wristwatches and personal documents in it was also missing.

Police officers on patrol in the Joburg city centre were tipped off about the crime by his friends in his presence on 9 July.

The officers took him to his flat where he produced the safe, one of the two guns and documents belonging to the victims. He was then arrested. One of the friends also told the police that the other gun was sold to someone.
