Drunken argument leads to a murder in Ivory Park

MIDRAND – A man has been arrested for allegedly stabbing his friend to death in Ivory Park.

 

Ivory Park police arrested a 24-year-old suspect in connection with a murder that took place in Ivory Park Ext 2 on 14 July.

Ivory Park police spokesperson, Captain Bernard Matimulane said an argument between two drunk friends ended in tragedy when one of them was fatally stabbed with a screwdriver. He died at the scene.

“It is alleged the argument was sparked by an insult by the deceased about the suspect’s wife and when the suspect went to enquire about the matter, he was allegedly attacked by the deceased and one of the deceased’s relatives,” said Matimulane.

“Both the victim and the suspect are tenants in the same yard and have known each other since they were children in Mozambique.”

Police are warning the community to avoid carrying weapons as well as consuming too much alcohol in the aim of avoiding a repeat of such incidents in the future.
