Disabled children’s home in Kaalfontein is looking for transport sponsorship

MIDRAND – A local home for children needs the community's helps.

Tshimollo Home, a home for disabled children in Kaalfontein, is looking for transport sponsorship to take the children to hospital when physiotherapy sessions require and emergencies are encountered.

A total of 45 children are housed at Tshimollo, which operates mostly on grant money. Founder of the home, Lebogang Ramushu said most of the children are epileptic and often require medical care.

Currently, the home pays a taxi R1 000 to transport the children to Tembisa Hospital where they receive physiotherapy twice a week and to attend sports events once a week at Nompilo Centre.

In addition, the home also requires transport to fetch food from sponsors.

“Sometimes we find that the money we have spent on transport is more than the food itself but because our donors are doing it from the goodness of their heart we must fetch it. We can’t deprive the children of their medical and development needs and we have to use the little that we have,” said Ramushu.

She said the grant money they receive also has to pay care workers, electricity and buy food for the children.
