Ivory Park woman shot dead while making her way to work

MIDRAND – A woman was shot dead in front of her husband on her way to sell vetkoek in Ivory Park.

A woman was shot dead on the morning of 27 June while walking to the corner where she sells vetkoek in Ivory Park.

According to the police, the 40-year-old was walking with her husband when they met an unknown man who fired the shot that killed the woman.

“It is reported that the husband was slightly in front of his wife, pushing the wheelbarrow containing vetkoek, while the woman who was carrying another bucket of vetkoek was walking behind him. The suspect approaching from the opposite direction, apparently passed the husband, and shot his wife who was walking behind,” said the spokesperson for Ivory Park Police Station Captain Bernard Matimulane.

Nothing was taken from the victims and the suspect fled the scene on foot.

Ivory Park Police Station Commander Brigadier David Ngcobo went to the scene of the crime after the incident. “Like the other community members at the scene, he was struggling to make sense of what the motive for the murder may have been. He has, however, promised that detectives will leave no stone unturned to find the suspect.”

Details: Anyone with information about the murder can contact Ivory Park Police Station on 011 990 9618.
