Police meet with Complex Forum to enforce safety in complexes

MIDRAND – The police want to put a stop to criminal activities that take place in complexes.

 

Midrand police held a meeting with the Complex Forum on 19 June at the Midrand Police Station.

These meetings will be held once a month as a platform to evaluate crime fighting initiatives in complexes which will not only kerb crime in complexes but eventually put a stop to it.

Sergeant Dikgale Edward of the detective branch at the station said the aim of the meeting was also to share information as well as the statistics of the top ten complexes in Midrand that have fallen victim to criminal activities.

Sergeant Matome Tlamela, the spokesperson of the Midrand Police Station, said the police have advised complex owners to regularly check on their security measures and report suspicious activities.

“The social crimes prevention team is planning to start an education project for complex residents and their helpers to offer home safety tips in cases of robberies, hijackings and other forms of crimes,” Tlamela said.
