Long-serving detective from Ivory Park Police Station retires from service

MIDRAND – Long-serving detective bids farewell to his colleagues at Ivory Park Police Station after retiring from the service.

Ivory Park police officers bid farewell to long-serving Detective Captain Knox Mogai on 9 June who retired from the service after 37 years. ‘Ntate Mogai’, as he was fondly called by his colleagues, worked at Ivory Park Police Station for 19 years.

“He has always been a detective and his junior colleagues feel poorer as he retires and remain grateful for the mentorship and the wealth of experience they got from him,” said spokesperson for the station, Captain Bernard Matimulane.

Mogoai (60) has attributed his staying power to pure discipline, cordial working relationships with colleagues and the ever present support from his wife and four daughters. Acting Station Commander for the station, Colonel Baba Mpotoane, encouraged other police officers to emulate Magoai’s example.

“We want more detectives of Magoai’s calibre to increase the [crime] detection rate in our area,” said Mpotoane. He further expressed gratitude to Mogoai’s family for allowing him to spend many nights on standby performing operations and for giving him the support he needed.
