Midrand SPCA battles blaze in next door property and saves animals’ lives

MIDRAND – Midrand SPCA staff battle a fire on a next door property.

Midrand SPCA staff members battled a fire on 31 May which broke out on a vacant property next to their facilities.

Brenda Lucas from the organisation said the staff were able to quell the spread of the fire and extinguish the blaze. “Our four kennel staff and clinic manager all grabbed hosepipes and buckets and battled against the flames to prevent them from coming near the animals,” said Lucas.

A fire breaks out next to the Midrand SPCA.

She said the staff members were engulfed in smoke for more than three hours as they fought the fire.

No animals were harmed during the incident.
