Midrand police received a report of a body of a man which was found in an open field in Midrand on 25 May.
The man had multiple bullet wounds in the back of his head and paramedics certified the man dead.
Midrand Police Station’s communications officer Warrant Officer Mmakgomo Semono said when the police arrived on the scene they found no form of identification on the body.
“About eight cartridges of a 9mm were found on the scene and a case docket for murder has been opened and is under investigation, therefore the motive for the murder is not yet known,” said Semono.
Police believe the deceased man was in his mid-30s.
Further information will be released as the case is investigated. Anyone with information relating to this case is urged to come forward and assist the police.
