Anti-crime awareness conducted by Midrand police officers at the Mall of Africa

MIDRAND – The Midrand Police Station held an anti-crime awareness campaign at the Mall of Africa to warn consumers about vehicle theft.

Midrand Police Station held an anti-crime awareness campaign at the Mall of Africa on 17 May.

Warrant Officer Mmakgomo Semono, the communications officer for Midrand Police Station, said the campaign was sparked by the increase of vehicle thefts at the mall recently.

“The campaign was a success because the social crimes prevention team distributed about 350 pamphlets to consumers in the mall and received positive feedback about their campaign with everyone they spoke to,” said Semono.

Semono also said the police have been encouraged to conduct campaigns such as these more often as it assists motorists to be more aware and vigilant, especially before leaving their vehicle to enter the mall, and it also makes customers feel safer.
