Four suspects arrested for conspiracy to commit crime in Ivory Park

MIDRAND – Four men were arrested after a conspiracy to commit a crime and the police are still looking for the two remaining suspects.

Ivory Park police arrested four men and the hunt continues for two remaining suspects allegedly involved in a house robbery that took place on 23 April in Extension 13.

The four suspects, whose ages range from 18 to 25, were picked up by the police at different addresses in Ivory Park, thanks to community assistance.

According to Ivory Park police communications officer, Captain Bernard Matimulane, the suspects were apparently tipped off about a stash of cash at a local businessman’s home. Once they realised there was no stash of cash they demanded money, cellphones, laptops and a plasma television from the victims who were in the house at the time of the robbery.

The four are expected to appear in the Tembisa Magistrates’ Court soon to face charges of robbery and conspiracy to commit a crime.

Station commander of Ivory Park Police Station, Brigadier David Mbongeni Ngcobo, has welcomed the arrest. He warned the community against the inherent dangers of keeping a large amount of money at home and the dangers of sharing sensitive information with other people. He said you never know who will share this information with criminals.

Detail: Ivory Park Police Station, 011 990 9618.
