Midrand Knights Cricket Club crowned SA5 League Champions

MIDRAND – Midrand Knights Cricket Club concluded a very satisfactory 2016/17 season, with one league title, a third and a fourth place finish for their teams.

 

Midrand Knights Cricket Club concluded a very satisfactory 2016/17 season, with one league title, a third and a fourth place finish for their teams.

Jeremy Meiring, the chairman of the club said their second team won the SA5 League Championship, having only lost two matches in the process and it was their second league title in a row. The two defeats were at the beginning of the season, making their subsequent winning streak very remarkable. The second team won 11 matches and drew four in the season. This takes their winning streak to 26 out of 36 matches over the past two seasons which includes only six draws and four losses.

The club’s first team finished third in the SA 4 League while the third team took fourth position in the SU6 league.

“I would like to congratulate all the players and officials for a fantastic 2016/17 season. A big thank you to our sponsors CRI Pumps, and OBT for their ongoing support,” said Meiring.

The club will move from Halfway House Primary to Marlboro Stadium and invite new players to join the club. The club is adding a junior programme and invite all juniors between the age of seven and 13.
