Golden Knights Soccer Academy holds soccer fundraiser at Midrand High School

MIDRAND – Golden Knights Soccer Academy raises R5 000 at its soccer tournament and fundraiser at Midrand High School.

Golden Knights Soccer Academy held its first fundraiser and tournament at Midrand High School sports grounds.

The tournament was attended by junior players of the academy, Mamelodi Sundowns, Tswelopele United and Zikode Sports who all played against each other. To raise funds, the academy sold merchandise, food, drinks and provided entertainment during the day.

“We decided on a fundraiser as we have struggled to find sponsorship to alleviate the financial burden on the parents,” said the academy’s founder Katleho Ntseke. Instead of sitting around and waiting for a sponsor, the Golden Knights staff decided to do it ourselves by inviting various teams to come play us.”

Ntseke said they could not have wished for a better turnout as the fundraiser was a fun day for the parents, supporters and players. “Because of how successful the fundraiser was, we intend to have it on an annual basis not only to raise funds for Golden Knights but also for the Midrand community and its future soccer players,” he added.

An amount of R5 000 was raised on the day and the money will contribute to the growth of the academy with the aim to invest more on players, on and off the field.

“We would like to thank the teams, their players, and everyone that came to support Golden Knights grow into the soccer club and academy Midrand deserves,” concluded Ntseke.
