15 years imprisonment for robbery in Midrand

MIDRAND – The Alexandra Magistrates' Court sentenced a man to 15 years for an armed robbery.

 

Alexandra Magistrates’ Court sentenced a man to 15 years’ imprisonment on 3 April for armed robbery.

The robber, Motseko Majoro (28) was born in Lesotho but lived in Olievenhoutbosch in Centurion, Pretoria.

Midrand Police Station’s Warrant Officer Mmakgomo Semono said Majoro was caught by members of the community who handed him over to the police after he robbed a 33-year-old female victim of her handbag with personal belongs and threatened her with a knife in Midrand.

The victim is said to have attempted to fight back but was overpowered by Majoro. He was arrested after being handed over to the police following the robbery on 14 December last year.

Semono said the case was transferred to Alexandra Magistrates’ Court, which is uncommon.
