Tekkie Tax is now in its fifth year and through the goodwill of thousands of people, the campaign has raised more than R22 million. This year should be no exception and everything is ready for 26 May when the entire country will dress their tekkies up with Tekkie Tax shoelaces and wear them in support of a welfare cause close to their heart. Jack Parow is the animal ambassador for Tekkie Tax and supports the organisation by helping to promote and raise awareness through social media.

Tekkie Tax unites hundreds of welfare organisations across various areas of service delivery and the public can choose to bring hope to either animals, the elderly, families or children.

The money donated from last year’s campaign has helped numerous organisations including:

“Who would think that buying a R10 sticker and a pair of shoelaces can have such a big impact? It is amazing what we can achieve when we join forces in goodwill! It is a fun campaign filled with laughter and crazy outfits but underneath it all is a very serious matter – protecting the vulnerable,” said Annelise de Jager, founder of Tekkie Tax.

Sandton Chronicle spoke to Parow about his involvement with Tekkie Tax and why he is so passionate about the charity, to which he replied, “This is my third year with Tekkie Tax and it is such a good cause. Tekkie Tax’s operational costs are one of the lowest in the world, which means that pretty much all the money goes to the needy. I personally am a huge animal fan, I have two dogs, two rabbits and fish, and this cause is really close to my heart. The money they have raised over the years and the amount of charity they have done make me proud to be a part of it.”

Stickers and Tekkie Tag shoelaces are available from any Clicks, Toys R Us, Babies R Us, or from nearly 300 welfare organisations countrywide. You can also order online at www.tekkietax.co.za.
