MIDRAND – Summit College celebrated the diversity of African cultures.

Summit College Preparatory in Midrand held a concert to celebrate the diversity of Africa on 11 April.

Cheryl Naidoo of the college said the concert was focused on embracing the different African cultures through dance, drama, songs, poetry, fashion and food.

“Parents were welcomed by the rhythms of the marimba band which kick-started the evening,” said Naidoo.

Later, schoolchildren recited poetry and engaged in dialogues in isiZulu.

Naidoo said, “The aim of the evening was to ensure that pupils learn to appreciate the uniqueness of each culture and understand the different traditions because this will assist the learners to better understand society and the people living in it by having more knowledge of their background.”
