Midrand youth shortlisted for School Arts Festival in Dubai

MIDRAND – Rhodesfield girls appeal to the public for financial support after being shortlisted for the School Arts Festival Dubai 2017.

 

Rhodesfield Technical High School teenagers Tebatso Mabotja and Lethabo Malaka have been chosen to represent their school at the School Arts Festival Dubai 2017.

Mabotja (16) stays in Rabie Ridge and Lethabo Malaka (16) stays in Kaalfontein, Midrand.

Tebatso Mabotja and Lethabo Malaka will represent Rhodesfield Technical High School at the School Arts Festival Dubai in September.

The two girls auditioned for dancing and were successful in getting selected. They will showcase the kwaito, pantsula and gumboot dance styles at the festival.

“We are a group of talented amateur dancers and we would be honoured to spread our wings overseas. We are paving a way for other kids who want to achieve greatness,” said Mabotja.

The festival takes place in September and will cost R14 000 fo travel and accommodation.

Mabotja said, “My partner and I are very excited about this opportunity, but we do not have the finances to cover the expenses of the trip. I am therefore appealing to anyone who can assist with the required amount or perhaps a portion of it, to please contact me.”
