A helping hand at Tumelo Home

MIDRAND – Cisco and Dimension Data spent the day with disabled children at Tumelo Home.

Cisco and Dimension Data celebrated their 25 years of partnership, known as the Cisco and DD Alliance, with a visit to Tumelo Home for the Mentally Handicapped in Ivory Park on 30 March.

Cisco is an American multinational technology conglomerate and network, which helps companies of all sizes transform the way people connect, communicate and collaborate.

Dimension Data specialises in information technology services. Middle East/Africa Strategic Partner at Lead-Dimension Data, Brendan Cuthbertson said, “We have a strong desire to change the way we work, live and play for the better. Cisco makes significant investments in cash and expertise to community partners with an innovative approach to social problems.

“Together with Dimension Data, we use our technology and expertise to make a social-economic impact on the environment we operate in. Tumelo Home resonates with our vision of service excellence and that’s why we chose them,” said Cuthbertson.

The Cisco and DD Alliance will spend about R35 000 to donate a new stove and carport.

Managing director of Tumelo Home, Solly Khuthama said he welcomed the visit and lunch for the children because it’s therapeutic for the children to see different faces from time to time and feel loved and cared for.

Khuthama called on the community and companies to continue to support the home with donations so that they can continue caring for the children as they grow.

Residential space, as well as a shortage of beds, nappies, food, clothes and sponsors, are some of the challenges that the home faces.
