Armed robbers target Valley Tavern and flee with an undisclosed amount of cash and phones

MIDRAND – Six armed men rob patrons and the owner of Valley Tavern in Vorna Valley of an undisclosed amount of money.

 

Midrand police confirmed that six armed suspects robbed patrons and staff at gunpoint at the Valley Tavern in Vorna Valley on 13 March.

Warrant Officer Mmakgomo Semono said the suspects entered the tavern on the corner of Le Roux Street and Burger Road at about 7pm.

According to Semono everyone was ordered to lie down on the floor and the owner of the tavern was hit on the back of his head with a gun. After the owner was forced to open the safe, the robbers took an undisclosed amount of cash.

“They [also] proceeded to the till and took [more]cash and robbed the customers’ [of their] car keys, cellphones and cash,” said Semono.

The suspects fled in a black Volkswagen Polo and white Volkswagen Polo.

No arrests have been made and police are still investigating the matter.
