After announcing their partnership with the Government of Canada’s Department of Global Affairs and the Hospital for Sick Children (SickKids), the future of Nelson Mandela Children’s Hospital became much more exciting for all those involved in making Madiba’s dream come true.
One of those involved is Italtile. Italtile partnered with Laufen, Swiss experts in bathroom concepts; Idral, a manufacturer of sanitary appliances; and Atlas Concorde, the largest manufacturer of floor and wall tiles in southern Africa, to play their part in creating the medical safe-haven for the children of Africa.

Located in Johannesburg, it has been designed to be a specialist, referral only, tertiary facility. The 200-bed hospital is expected to admit its first patient in June this year, and once operational, it will be the second hospital in South Africa dedicated to children, and the fifth in all of Africa.
Italtile made a generous donation of products to the hospital worth R3.5 million, which ensure focusing on easy maintenance, said they are proud to have been involved in Madiba’s dream. Former South African president Mandela envisioned a life of hope for southern African children. In 1995, he launched the Nelson Mandela Children’s Fund and stated, “There can be no keener revelation of a society’s soul than the way in which it treats its children.”
