MIDRAND – Colour and shaving was the order of the day at the Cansa Shavathon, held at the Mall of Africa.

Patrons at the Mall of Africa in Midrand arrived in their numbers on 24 February to support those affected by cancer at the Cancer Association of South Africa (Cansa) Shavathon.

The Cansa Shavathon is one of South Africa’s best-loved fundraising events.
The young and old excitedly jumped at the opportunity to have their hair cut or temporarily sprayed with various colours for R50. All the funds raised at the event were donated to Cansa.

Volunteers also came in their numbers to help spray or cut participants’ hair on the day.

Samantha Schmidt from Kyalami, who had her hair sprayed, said she was supporting the initiative because her friend suffers from cancer.
Khosi Manqele, Bibi Sekatane, Jessie Palmer and Mbali Palmer spray Suzie Makuka’s hair.
Local actress, Mbali Palmer, volunteered on the day with her daughter Jessie.
