Dog left chained up at dump site

MIDRAND – A dog sustains bad injuries around her neck due to being chained up at a dump site.

The Midrand SPCA rescued a female dog by the name of Sweetpea tied to a chain at a dump site near the SPCA after she was spotted by a member of the public.

Brenda Lucas from the Midrand SPCA said the chain has caused numerous injuries around her neck. “The dog is currently at the facility and still being treated for her wounds, but is healing well.”

Sweetpea is badly injured after being left at a dump site with a chain around her neck.

Lucas estimates the dog might be ready for adoption in about a week’s time.

“The amount of time the dog had been tied up for is unknown, and whether or not Sweetpea had sustained injuries prior to being left at the dump site is also unknown,” said Lucas.

She urged community members to not let animals suffer and encouraged them to bring their animals to the SPCA if they could no longer look after them because no animal deserves to suffer.

Sweetpea is said to have a sweet and loving personality.

“Please help us to care for Sweetpea and the other animals in our care by sending ‘care’ to 38324. SMSes are charged at R25,” concluded Lucas.
