Cops bust murder suspect

MIDRAND – The suspect allegedly stabbed and killed a 40-year-old man near a tavern in Ivory Park Extension 7.

Ivory Park Police Station commander Brigadier Mbongeni Ngcobo has thanked the local community for helping them arrest a suspect following the murder of a 40-year-old man.

The man was stabbed and killed near a tavern in Extension 7 in the early hours of 18 February.

“With the help of the community, the police managed to establish the identity of the people allegedly seen stabbing the deceased. This apparently happened after a scuffle, the details of which are not known at this stage,” said Ivory Park Police Station spokesperson, Captain Bernard Matimulane.

“Ngcobo urged people with information to come forward. We have often said that the community could play an important role in assisting us in fighting crime in Ivory Park.”

He urged Ivory Park residents to help with information about two separate, unrelated murders that occurred on the weekend of 18 and 19 February when two men were shot during house robberies.
