School search operation a success

MIDRAND – Midrand police, Metro police and CPF members conduct a search operation at Midrand High School. Read how the operation went.

Midrand police officers, led by operations commander Captain Lionel Chetty, together with Metro police and the Midrand Community Policing Forum conducted a school search at Midrand High School on 17 February.

Spokesperson for Midrand Police Station, Motume Tlamela said the search started at 8am and ended at 10am. “About 15 classrooms were entered with about 200 pupils searched,” Tlamela said.

No illegal items were found.

Steven Johnstone, the chairperson of the forum, said he was pleased with the result of the search because no drugs or dangerous weapons were found, besides unwanted items such as cellphones.

Tlamela said this search operation would roll out to other schools with the hope of making schools safer and creating a better learning environment for the schoolchildren.
